Douglas Day is the owner and Chef of Cafe Max. He earned his culinary degree from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and worked in some of the country's most notable restaurants in Florida, the Virgin Islands and Seattle before opening Cafe Max in 1996.

The menus at Cafe Max change frequently to follow the elements of the seasons, emphasizing ingredients sourced from the Pacific Northwest. In keeping with the philosophy of the dinner menus, the wine list is an eclectic selection from around the world with an emphasis on the wines of Washington and Oregon. Cafe Max frequently hosts popular six-course wine dinners and more casual evenings of food and wine pairing.
